Printed Label Design Elements

Whether you are a rising star in the world of clothing design, or a mom who wants to help her kids keep better track of their clothes, custom clothing label design is an important thing. Here are a few tips to help you either create stellar name labels for the first time, or improve upon past designs, when you place a new order for printed clothing labels:

  • Rule number one is keep it simple. If you know design isn’t your strong suit, it is better to have a label that is exceedingly simple, than one that makes an attempt at higher fashion but falls short. For example, include the size, your name and where the product is made, in simple font.
  • If you feel relatively comfortable with design, you can experiment with different fonts and find one that looks slightly more fancy, while still being readable. You can also toy with including your store logo, if it isn’t too intricate to be printed small.
  • Next, the information to include. At the very least, you want to include your store name or logo, the size of the garment, and where it was made. You can also include a website, email or phone number, but we wouldn’t recommend including all three. If you try to pack too much information onto the label, it will look cluttered and will become difficult to read. Make sure you minimize the content to maximize the label’s efficiency. You should also choose a font that is slightly thicker, so it is easier to read once the labels are printed.
